DIY Fortune Cookies

Hey guys! So its been 7 months since my last post. I know, forgive me please but I've been busy. Kinda, sorta :p Hopefully from I now I can try to commit to a more regular schedule. I can't make any no promises though because I can tell this year will be full-on. I have a great respect for people who can balance their work, study and social life!

Enough about me, I'd thought I would start this new year with a DIY post. I know I could definitely start the year with some good fortune and these do it yourself fortune cookies are the perfect gift for your friends and of course for yourself. The great thing about these cookies is that you can write your own fortune, how about that. Sound brilliant? Keep reading.

The things you'll need:

  • hot glue gun
  • 20cm x 20cm felt square (makes ~ 6)

  • craft wire
  • marker
  • scissors
  • jar lid (9cm diameter)

Step 1

Draw a circle onto your felt and cut it out.

Step 2

Flip your material and cut a piece of wire slightly shorter than your felt circle, then hot glue it down.

Step 3 (Optional)

Cut a strip of felt to cover your wire and glue this down.

Step 4

Here is when you want to write your message. Cut a strip of paper longer than your circle, write your message and then place it in the centre of your circle. I think a great idea would be to write something personal here or even a birthday message.

Step 5

Now to bend the fortune cookie into shape. Fold the circle in half along the wire, not against it. Then take the two points and bring them together. That's it!

I made a few to give to my friends in the theme of valentines and wrapped them up with a few chocolates :)

When I was making these, I also figured you could turn these fortune cookies into cute bows which you can add to a headband or hairtie.

Hope you enjoyed this DIY! Until next time, have a wonderful and creative day! Kat xx
